Victory Motorcycle Tops In Customer Satisfaction

Posted on Apr 12th 2015

A recent customer satisfaction survey put Victory Motorcycles on top at 80% of customer saying that they would purchase again and recommend to a friend. This is an impressive statistic for a motorcycle maker who is still viewed as a relative newcomer to the market.  Most manufacturers have a breaking in period, where they face challenges in overcoming initial design flaws and small mistakes. Avoiding these is a real tribute to the dedication of this company.

However, the number of Victory motorcycles on the road is relatively small, compared to the millions of other brands out there who have been selling for years. As market share increases, so does the amount of people who may not give glowing reviews.  Nonetheless, the usual suspects such as Honda, Harley-Davidson, and Yamaha all placed very closely behind Victory with satisfaction ratings of 70% or higher.

As a long-time motorcycle enthusiast, I started out as a Yamaha lover.  This was based more on emotion than on motor quality. My dad would put me on the gas tank of his big bike when I was four and tour me around the neighborhood. I can still remember the thrill of the acceleration and the wind in my face as if it were yesterday. I am 50 now, if that tells you anything.  By the time I went off to college, I had become a Honda man.

I am not entirely certain of the reason for my shift to the other bike. I guess I just like the feel of the Honda motorcycles better. They feel more solid, more self-assured, and more comfortable in the saddle than Yamahas. Yamaha motorcycles seem to be more forward angled, more nimble, and quicker off the line; but all of that cat-like response leaves me cold when I just want to tool around. I am not a jack rabbit, more like a tortoise.

Hondas are fast, don’t get me wrong. Another respectable motorcycle is Kawasaki. These are very reliable, dependable, and solid modes of transportation. Kawasaki has a style all its own. Occasionally, they come out with one of their unique designs that they are famous for; but overall, I tend to find them to be rather safe and unexciting motorcycles.  Sorry, Kawasaki. You are more like kissing my sister than going out on a hot date.

Harley-Davidson motorcycles are nice.  I would not mind having one. I respect the company and how they came back from the brink of bankruptcy. They are an American icon. Sadly, I cannot afford one. Let me rephrase that: I would not pay that much for a motorcycle. Maybe if I found a nice used one on a reputable online marketplace like MotorsHiFi, I would consider buying it; that is, if I had that kind of spare cash. To the true Harley-Davidson fan, however, money is no object.
